The festival was started in 2002 as a local event opened for small art-projects and artistic experiments. The first festival took place in the village of Chernyanka of the Kherson region – this place is connected with history of futurism of the beginning of the XX century.
Today the Terra Futura has grown into the main event in the field of contemporary art in Kherson. Visual arts, poetry, music, theater, cinema, street art – annually the Terra Futura searches for new forms and new places. For example, in 2011 the 10th festival was devoted to work of artists with urban space, and all events took place in the building of a former shoes factory and in the streets of the city. Architects and artists from Odessa, Kharkov, Kherson, Sumy involved local community into open lectures, discussions, workshops, presentations on the topic of revitalization (extremely interesting European and world practices).
Now the development of the conception and preparation to the festival of 2014 is in progress.
